Men's Soccer Selected Fourth in GNAC Preseason Poll

NEW LONDON, N.H. – August 15, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll.

Colby-Sawyer collected 97 points in the poll as the team enters its second season in the GNAC. The Chargers went 6-3-2 in conference play last season and earned the fourth seed in the GNAC tournament. The team defeated fifth seed Albertus Magnus 2-0 in the quarterfinals before falling to top seed Saint Joseph's (ME) 2-0 in the semifinals.

Three-time defending champ and 19th ranked Saint Joseph's College of Maine was picked to win a fourth-straight title with 135 points and seven first-place votes. Norwich finished a close second just four points back of Saint Joe's, earning three first-place tallies and 131 points, while Johnson & Wales  was third with one first-place nod and 126 points. Suffolk, which was picked ninth in the poll, garnered the final first-place vote.

Colby-Sawyer will begin the season with a pair of matches hosted by Norwich on Aug. 30-31. The Chargers will play Wheaton and Southern Maine. The team will then host a pair of non-conference matches against intrastate rival New England College and Wentworth. The conference slate commences on Sept. 14 at Lasell and ends at home on Oct. 30 against Emmanuel. Two feature home matches include Johnson & Wales on Oct. 5 during Alumni Weekend and nationally ranked Saint Joseph's (ME) on Oct. 23.
