NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 25, 2020 – Colby-Sawyer junior
Julia Lanctot (Sandown, N.H.) and first-year
Bella Silva (Danvers, Mass.) have each been honored as a 2019 Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Scholar of Distinction.
Lanctot, who earns her second recognition in as many years, and Silva were two of 321 student-athletes to be honored. Both were named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad earlier this month.
Lanctot was an All-GNAC Second Team selection in the fall. Lanctot was third on the team with 12 points on four goals and four assists to record her third season in a row of at least 10 points. The four assists tied for the most on the team. Lanctot climbed into third place in career assists with 12. She had a team best two game-winning goals to give her four in three years.
Silva stepped right into the starting lineup and earned the nod in all 17 of the Chargers' games. She was fourth on the team with eight points on two goals and four assists. Silva also had a major impact on the other end of the field with a pair of defensive saves to rank second on the team and seventh in the GNAC.
The Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year. Click
