Chargers Cross Country Captures GNAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The Chargers men's and women's cross country teams both charged their way to a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) championship on Saturday in the GNAC Championships at Franklin Park.

Rapid Recap Men: 
  • Dylan Flewelling (Oakland, Maine) raced his way to a first place finish with a 28:04 time. 
  • Senior Spencer McClary (South Burlington, VT) and first year Haven Deschenes (Peterborough, NH) were next finishing seventh and eighth with times of 29:55 and 29:57.
  • First year Daniel Magill (Billerica, MA) was the next runner for the Chargers, putting in a great performance with a time of 30:49 good for 14th place.
  • Senior Brendan Sullivan (Wellesley, MA) finished in 16th crossing the finish line at 30:52. 
  • Rounding out the Chargers' top 5 was first-year Martin Steucek (Ashburnham, Mass.) Steucek put in a time of 31:30. 
  • The men's team finished with a 44 team score which was five points lower than second place Norwich.

Rapid Recap Women: 
  • The Chargers were led by first year Samantha Carus (Brownfield, Maine) who ran a personal best in the 6k with a time of 24:25 good for second place.
  • Following Carus was first-year Tessa Millette (Barrington, N.H.) who finished in 5th place with a time of 25:02. 
  • The third Colby-Sawyer runner was first-year Heather Hanson (Marston Mills, Mass). Hanson finished 9th with a personal best finish of 25:33. 
  • First year Quinn Aldrich (New Ipswich, N.H.) placed in 17th crossing the finish line at 27:21.
  • Junior Emily Carrigan (Wenham, Mass.), first year Grace Walsh (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and first year Bridget O'Connell (Peabody, Mass.) rounded out the group for the Chargers finishing in 22nd, 23rd and 24th place.
  •  Colby-Sawyer finished with a final score of 52, which was 20 points better than second-place Simmons University.
