WELLESLEY, MASS. – Day two of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship included 15 new personal records with eight coming from the preliminaries and seven from the finals. Overall, the team finished in sixth place, collecting 262 points.
Day 2:
- Starting with the preliminaries of the 500-freestyle race, Junior Cecilia LaFlamme (Hatfield, Mass.), along with sophomores Micaela Korchinski (Trumbull, Conn.), and Julianna DeGray (Chicopee, Mass.) each defeated their previously set personal records. LaFlamme finished with a time of 6:16.68, Korchinski followed behind at 6:43.69, and DeGray finished up at 6:53.74.
- During the preliminaries of the 50 backstroke, first-years Lily Stinchfield (Sanbornville, N.H.) and Hannah McAloon (Berkley, Mass.) joined the personal records list with the New Hampshire native finishing in 32.61 and McAloon trailing at 33.08. Stinchfield also collected a new personal record during the preliminaries of the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:30.83.
- Senior Kelsey Brown (Douglas, Mass.) continued to impress, breaking the Colby-Sawyer school record in the 100 butterfly preliminaries with a new record of 57.72.
- Junior Mary Steward was less than half a second off from joining Brown in the breaking of school records, finishing with a new personal record of 1:11.96 in the preliminaries of the 100-breaststroke competition.
- During the finals of day two, LaFlamme defeated her preliminary record swimming .59 of a second faster in the 500-freestlye with a new time of 6:16.09.
- K. Brown became the GNAC Champion in the 50-backstroke with a time of 27.32. Not only did the senior set a new Colby-Sawyer record with this time, but she also set a new best GNAC record. Stinchfield tailed K. Brown with a new personal record of her own, finishing the 50-backstroke with a time of 32.27.
- During the 100-butterfly, K. Brown defeated her preliminary time mentioned earlier with a new time of 57.54, less than a second off the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) B cut.
- Fellow senior Maddie Craig (Salem, N.H.) placed herself in the new personal records category, swimming the 100-breastroke in 1:21.21.
- The rookie of Lily Stinchfield collected her fourth personal record of the day, this time in the 200-backstroke with a time of 2:30.07, defeating her preliminary time by .74 of a second.
- To finish the day, K. Brown gathered herself a fourth record in the 100-backstroke, leading off with a time of 59.97, less than half a second off the school record.
