35 Personal Records, 5 School Records, and 1 GNAC Record were Collected in 3-Day GNAC Championship

WELLESLEY, MASS. – The Colby-Sawyer Swimming and Diving team placed sixth of 10 teams over the three-day Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship. A total of 35 new personal records were collected along with 5 school records and one GNAC record. 
 
Day 3:
 
Preliminaries:
  • The third day of the 2022 Championship began with the 200-freestyle in which juniors Alyssa Brown (Douglas, Mass.) (2:10.59) and Cecilia La Flamme (Hatfield, Mass.) (2:22.35) along with first-year Hanna McAloon (2:14.74) gathered new personal records during the preliminaries. Additionally, McAloon finished the 50-freestlye in 28.57 seconds for another new personal record. 
  • First-year Lily Stinchfield (Sanbornville, N.H.) completed the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:10.57, also joining the preliminary personal records list. 
  • Senior Maddie Craig (Salem, N.H.), Junior Mary Steward (Saco, Maine) and sophomore Julianna DeGray (Chicopee, Mass.) each defeated their previously set records with Craig finishing the 200-breaststroke in 2:55.57, Steward completing the 50-breaststroke in 33 seconds flat, and DeGray hitting the wall at 36.18 during the 50-fly. 
Finals: 
  • A. Brown PR'd in the finals of the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:10.57. McAloon followed behind at 2:13.26 also defeating her previous record set in the preliminaries by just under a second.  
  • Stinchfield conquered her preliminary time in the 100-back, with a new time of 1:09.50. During the 50-free, McAloon swam .02 of a second quicker than she did in her preliminaries, with a final time of 28.55. 
  • The lone event winner for the Chargers, senior Kelsey Brown finished her career collecting two more personal records and another broken school record in the 400 IM. K. Brown crushed her previous record, with a new time of 4:49.91 in the preliminary and a 4:45.51 in the finals. Then, in her last event, during the 800-freestlye relay, K. Brown led her team with a final 200-meter swim time of 2:00.93. After giving four years to the Colby-Sawyer swim team, the veteran can walk away knowing she was accredited for a countless number of personal records, a handful of broken school records, and a GNAC event Champion title. 
 
Coaches Corner:

"This was a spectacular finish to the season and a true testament to all the hard work these ladies have shown", said head coach Helaina Sacco. "Extremely proud of each and every one of them for all they do to help their teammates be the best versions of themselves on a daily basis.  This was a fun season across the board!"


The Chargers end their 2021-22 season placing 6th in the conference.
