NEW LONDON, N.H. - On Monday morning, Colby-Sawyer College Athletic Director Mitch Capelle handed out the inaugural Chargers Champion Awards to Daniel MacCreighton and Leslie Ekstrand.
The Chargers Champion Award was created by the Colby-Sawyer Athletic Department to recognize individuals who advocate for Colby-Sawyer student-athletes and go above and beyond in their contributions. The award will be handed out to a pair of individuals each month of the academic year.
"There are so many individuals who go above and beyond to make the student experience special at Colby-Sawyer," said Director of Athletics Mitch Capelle. "Our student-athletes benefit every day from the efforts of these great people and we are so thankful to have them as a part of our team. This award is just a small token of our appreciation for their efforts."
Daniel MacCreighton:
Daniel MacCreighton has been with Colby-Sawyer for three and a half years working as a Front Desk Attendant in the Hogan Sports Center. Over his time in New London MacCreighton continues to support athletics as a fan or helping around wherever needed.
"Just being considered for this reward was very flattering. I am beyond grateful for being presented with this award! Supporting athletics is a joy for me, getting to know the athletes and athletics staff is a pleasure. They are a great group to be affiliated with and I'm very excited to see what the future holds."
Leslie Ekstrand:
Leslie Ekstrand has been at Colby-Sawyer for five years as the General Manager of Dining Services. From feeding all students to ensuring teams have healthy snacks and meals for away trips, Leslie and her team help fuel the Chargers on the fields of play.
"To be among the first given this recognition when there are so many others on this campus who are deserving is amazing. Serving and helping support our students and especially our student athletes is the most rewarding part of what I do. My team really deserves this recognition for all that they do day in and day out and I accept it on their behalf."
