NEW LONDON, N.H. - On Tuesday, the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced its 2024 Division III All-Region Teams. Graduate student Cooper O'Brien (Vergennes, Vt.), was selected to the Second Team while sophomore Dylan Watson (Byfield, Mass.) was named to the Third Team.
The accolades continued as D3baseball.com announced its 2024 Division III All-Region team selections on Tuesday with O'Brien and Watson selected to the First Team and junior Jack Mullen (Norfolk, Mass.) selected to the Second Team.
O'Brien and Watson become the first Chargers in program history to be named to D3baseball.com All-Region First Team and our the first Chargers ever selected to the ABCA All-Region Teams.
O'Brien was a GNAC All-Conference Second Team selection this season. He ranked 1st in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) in homeruns (9), 12th in batting average (.365), 4th in slugging percentage (.642), 4th in RBIs (48), 3rd in runs (46) and 1st in stolen bases (24). O'Brien secured two program records with 24 stolen bases in a single season and 29 walks in a single season. Cooper was also named to the GNAC Baseball All-Tournament Team after having a big playoff performance in pod play.
Watson was a GNAC All-Conference Second and Third Team selection in his sophomore year. On the mound he ended his season with a 7-1 record, 2.70 ERA, and 25 strikeouts. At the plate the centerfielder ended with a .387 batting average, 38 runs and 23 RBIs. Watson was also named to the GNAC Baseball All-Tournament Team and was awarded the 2023-24 Charger Male Athlete of the Year at the Chargies.
Mullen was a GNAC All-Conference First Team selection. He had a successful season ending with a 1.10 ERA, seven saves, and 42 strikeouts. Mullen now holds the program record of most saves in program and in a single season (7). Mullen was also awarded the 2023-24 Charger Most Improved Athlete of the Year at the Chargies.
