MEN'S SOCCER SUFFERS FIRST HOME LOSS OF SEASON

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College men's soccer team suffered a 2-0 non-conference setback against in-state foe Plymouth State University on Wednesday afternoon at Kelsey Field.

Rapid Recap:

  • Plymouth State jumped on the board early in the opening half. Just 7:59 into the contest, Ian Maeby collected a feed from Riley Sheel and converted his first goal of the season to put the Panthers ahead 1-0.

  • Colby-Sawyer answered with sustained offensive pressure throughout the remainder of the first half, outshooting Plymouth State 9-8 in the frame and forcing Panthers goalkeeper Bryant Amaral into four saves to keep the deficit at one heading into the intermission.

  • The Panthers doubled their lead past the hour mark when Luke McLaughlin broke through the Charger back line, burying an unassisted marker at 61:57 to push the margin to 2-0.

  • Colby-Sawyer continued to push forward in the final half hour, generating six shots in the second half, but the Planthers defense turned away every Charger bid down the stretch to close out the clean sheet.

Inside the Numbers:

  • The Panthers held a slight 2-1 edge in corner kicks over the 90 minutes.
