NEW LONDON, N.H. - Sophomore Goalkeeper, Sophie Krauss (Essex, VT.) was named by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as the Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 14th.

Krauss was named the 2026 starting goal keeper after a strong showing in preseason. Coming into the new year, Sophie just made two appearances while recording two saves. So far this year, Krauss has made every start for the Chargers across all five games. Sophie has been named back to back Great Northeast Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week to kick off her new role with the team. Her best game that helped give her the honor at the national level was against Plymouth St. where she recorded her first complete shutout while turning away a career high 17 shots. She would later go on to make 6 saves against Keene St. in a win over another in state competitor. 

Krauss has a total of 44 saves on the year while maintaining a 1.19 goals against average. Sophie and the Chargers return to action tonight against VTSU Castleton where they look to maintain their unbeaten streak.
