MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY OPENS SEASON AT HOME INVITATIONAL

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer College men's cross country team kicked off the 2026 season on Saturday morning, placing second as a team at the Colby-Sawyer Charger Invitational.

Rapid Recap:

  • First-year Lincoln O'Brien led the way for the Chargers in his collegiate debut, placing second overall with an impressive 5k time of 16:46.8.

  • Sophomore Benjamin LaPlume turned in a strong top-five showing, taking fifth overall with a time of 19:10.1.

  • Sophomore Parker Hilton rounded out the scoring trio for Colby-Sawyer, crossing the line in 28:43.6 to secure ninth in the team scoring order.

  • Colby-Sawyer alumnus Achius Wolfley also ran in the event, finishing 12th overall in 25:21.5 as a non-scoring participant.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Colby-Sawyer finished as the team runner-up with 16 points, finishing ahead of third-place Vermont State Lyndon (21 points). Lasell University claimed the team title with eight points.

  • O'Brien clocked a 5:24 average mile pace en route to his runner-up finish, trailing individual champion Caleb Ruch of Lasell (16:19.4) by under 28 seconds.

  • The Chargers combined for a total team time of 1:04:41 with an average 5k time of 21:34.

The Chargers return to competition on Saturday, September 19, heading to Dartmouth, Mass. to take part in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
