CHARGERS CONCLUDE BONNIE MAY TOURNAMENT

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Colby-Sawyer College women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the Bonnie May Invitational on Saturday, dropping a pair of non-conference decisions to Bridgewater State University and Hamilton College

Rapid Recap (Match 1 vs. Bridgewater State):

  • Bridgewater State jumped out to an early lead in the opening set, using an 8-1 surge to take control before capitalizing on a 6-0 run down the stretch to claim a 25-10 victory. Four different Chargers would record kills during the first set. 

  • Colby-Sawyer responded with strong momentum to open set two, scoring the first four points on the serve of Senior Alexis Mandrino (Dunbarton, N.H.) and extending the margin to 7-3. The Bears countered to level the set at 8-8, setting up a competitive exchange that saw the frame knotted at 20-20. Bridgewater State managed to break away late with three unanswered points to capture the set, 25-21.

  • The Bears carried their momentum into the third frame, taking the match 3-0. 

Rapid Recap (Match 2 vs. Hamilton):

  • Hamilton established an early lead for a 25-14 win. Kamryn Brakemeier (Keller, Texas) would highlight the Chargers in the second picking up a pair of kills.

  • The Chargers battled back in a tightly contested second set. Colby-Sawyer registered nine kills and kept the Continentals within striking distance all the way to 22-23 before Hamilton notched the final two points to edge out a 25-22 victory. Brakemeier would continue to pace the Chargers with 5 kills, while First-Year Liv Chandonnait (Belmot, N.H.) add three kills.

  • Colby-Sawyer continued to push in the third set, trading points with the Continentals deep into the frame. Tied at 20-20, Hamilton answered with a decisive 5-1 spurt to close out the match, 25-21. Jules Larock (Austin, Texas) would lead an offensive charge with three kills in the set.

Inside the Numbers:

  • Junior Kamryn Brakemeier paced the Colby-Sawyer attack across both contests, tallying a team-high eight kills against Bridgewater State before putting down nine kills against Hamilton. Brakemeier would record her 500th career kill during the match against Bridgewater State.

  • Senior setter Bree Bacon (Brookline, Mass.) distributed 15 assists in each match, finishing the day with 30 total.

  • Junior libero Madison Sinatro (Simsbury, Conn.) posted double-digit digs in both outings, recording 10 digs against the Bears and 10 digs against the Continentals while adding two service aces on the day.

  • First-year Sailor Plourde (Branfod, Conn.) notched three kills against Bridgewater State, while first-year Jules Larock chipped in four kills and six digs against Hamilton.

  • First-year Hayden Blanchard (Belmont, N.H.) collected a team-high two blocks in the finale against Hamilton.

Up Next:

The Chargers (1-3) return to action on Friday, September 11, traveling to New Paltz, N.Y. to open play against Springfield College, with first serve scheduled for 6:15 PM.
