STANDISH, Maine - October 28, 2018 - The Colby-Sawyer men's cross country team has been awarded the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship hosted by Saint Joseph's College of Maine.

TEAM RESULTS
The Chargers finished with 28 points as five runners placed in the top 14. Suffolk University placed second (64 points), Emmanuel College was third (74), and Saint Joseph's was fourth with 81 points. Regis College (94), Johnson & Wales University (192), Lasell College (218), and Rivier University (228) fielded full teams in this year's championship while University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) entered three individuals in the 2018 event. Norwich was not permitted to score points in the team standings due to an infraction.
Leading the way for the Chargers was
Peter Bakker. He finished fourth out of 84 with a time of 27:43 on the 8k course.
Ben Jones placed sixth in a time of 28:17. Crossing the finish line right after Jones was
Liam Fleming. He clocked in at 28:18 to place seventh. Bakker, Jones and Fleming earned All-GNAC First Team honors for finishing in the top-7.
Kyle Hajj placed 13th in a time of 29:04, while
Bruin Smith rounded out the top five Charger finishers in 14th with a time of 29:14. Hajj and Smith earned All-GNAC Second Team accolades for placing 8th-14th.

The Chargers will compete at the NCAA Regional Championship on November 10 at Bowdoin.
