NEW LONDON, N.H. – September 1, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer women's cross country team finished as the runner-up at Saturday's inaugural Charger Invitational held at the newly dedicated Morris Trail.

Colby-Sawyer scored 36 points to finish in second behind the 20 points of Plymouth State. Northern Vermont University-Lyndon finished third with 81 points.
In her first collegiate race, freshman
Hannah Giesing (Newbury, Vt.) led the Chargers with an impressive time of 21:17.10 to finish fourth. Right behind Giesing was junior
Alison Fairbairn (Dover, N.H.) in fifth at 21:20.20
Junior
Hannah Barrett (Topsfield, Mass.) finished seventh in 22:09.60, while sophomore
Amanda Boyd (Dedham, Maine) also cracked the top-10 with a ninth place finish in a time of 22:34.70.
Rounding out the top five for Colby-Sawyer was junior
Megan Spainhower (Northwood, N.H.). She placed 11th in 22:57.90.
The Chargers then had a group finish 15th, 16th and 17th led by junior
Bryanna Parker (Winterport, Maine). She came away with a time of 23:45.10. Sophomore
Abbie Castriotta (Barre, Mass.) was next in 24:03, while freshman
Raven Bradenday (Portland, Maine) clocked in at 24:05.90.
Senior
Shae-Lyn Walker (Newington, N.H.) placed 19th (24:32.80) and senior
Alley Rogers (Alton, N.H.) finished 21st (24:44.00).
The Chargers will take next week off from competition before returning to the course on September 15 at UMass Dartmouth.
