Colby-Sawyer will be led by
Jim Broughton for the 25th consecutive season. The Chargers return a crop of young talent in addition to several newcomers that will have an immediate impact on the field. Sophomore
Charlie Danaher (Guilford, Conn.) is the top returning hitter after posting a .295 average in 26 games in his first season. He led last year's squad with 16 RBI and also had a perfect fielding percentage in 117 chances at first base. The pitching staff will once again rely on senior workhorse
Ryan Glendye (Litchfield, N.H.). He has logged at least 40 innings in the past two seasons. Sophomore
Noah Yeingst (Middleboro, Mass.) is the top returning ERA pitcher from a season ago. He tossed 34 innings, which included a pair of complete games, and finished second on the team with a 3.44 ERA.
Colby-Sawyer opens the season at Springfield College on March 3 with a doubleheader against the Pride. The team then heads south for the annual Spring Break Florida trip, which features nine games this season. The nine games will be played against six opponents in seven days. When the Chargers return home, they will begin conference play immediately with a doubleheader at Lasell on March 23. Colby-Sawyer hosts its first GNAC contest against defending champion Suffolk on March 31. The GNAC postseason is slated to begin on April 30.
