NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 22, 2019 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team was tabbed to finish third in its first season as a member of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).
For tennis, the GNAC is divided into North and South Divisions. GNAC programs will play each team within their division once during the GNAC regular season this spring, with the top-two from each division advancing to the GNAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday, April 27. The highest remaining seed from the North Division will host the 2019 GNAC Championship, scheduled for Saturday, May 4. Full GNAC release >

Also new to the GNAC in 2019, as an associate member for tennis, Eastern Nazarene was the unanimous choice to win the North with 60 points and 10 first-place votes. Regis was just ahead of Colby-Sawyer in second with 41 points, while the Chargers collected 40 points.
Colby-Sawyer enters this season having made six-straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament. The Chargers will be led by lone senior
Alex Wright (St. Austell, Cornwall, England). Wright had a team best 15 singles wins last season and was third with 12 doubles wins. He ranks in the top-10 all-time in total wins, singles wins and doubles wins.
The Chargers' season began in the fall with a few tournaments and one dual match in which they defeated Albertus Magnus, 9-0. The spring portion kicks off on Sunday at Division II Stonehill. The conference slate begins at Suffolk on March 23, while Colby-Sawyer hosts its first GNAC match on April 6 against Norwich.
