As a junior: Smith made seven appearances and threw one complete game. In 26.2 innings, he recorded 19 strikeouts, which was fourth highest on the team. Smith had a 2-2 record in five starts. His best outing came against Salve Regina on April 13 when he tossed a seven-inning complete game en route to the win. He gave up just two earned runs and struck out five.

As a freshman: Smith started five games for the Chargers, earning a decision in all of them. He finished with a 2-3 record, registering 15 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched. Smith picked up his first collegiate victory on March 31, against U. Maine-Presque Isle, when he pitched eight innings, giving up only one run and scattering eight hits.

At Lisbon: Smith was one of the Panthers top pitchers and also played first base. After losing in the state championship his freshman year, Lisbon went on to win three straight championships. Smith also won a basketball state championship his senior season.
